Curriculum Breakdown
Our curriculum follows the official Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) framework — the globally recognised standard for Japanese language certification.
N5 — Beginner
Beginner / 初級The entry point of Japanese learning. Students master hiragana, katakana, basic grammar patterns, and simple everyday conversations such as greetings, introductions, and asking for directions.
Target Objectives
- ✓Learn basic reading of Hiragana, Katakana, and simple Kanji.
- ✓Understand day-to-day spoken Japanese in slow, clear conversations.
- ✓Master essential greetings, self-introductions, and basic question structures.
JLPT / NAT Preparation
We focus on the language knowledge, reading, and listening skills needed for the major Japanese proficiency exams. Lessons include practice questions, timed drills, and review sessions to help learners understand what each level expects.
N5 and N4: core vocabulary, basic grammar, and daily conversation practice.
N3: reading comprehension, intermediate grammar, and natural workplace communication.
N2 and N1: advanced reading, formal language, and high-level listening skills.
NAT and past-paper study: class discussion, revision, and exam strategy.
Japanese Language Exams to Realise Your Dream
If you plan to go to Japan for work or higher education, you must fulfill the Japanese language qualification. There are 4 main recognized exams you can take in Sri Lanka. This brief introduction will help you select the most suitable exam according to your needs.
1. JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test)
The oldest and most officially recognized Japanese language exam globally, administered by the Japanese government.
- ◈ Levels: N5 to N1 (N5 is the beginner level).
- ◈ Frequency: Twice a year (July and December).
- ◈ Exam Method: OMR (Pen and Paper).
- ✔ Suitable for: Students planning university education in Japan and anyone who needs the highest internationally recognized credential.
2. NAT-TEST
Very similar structure to JLPT, but held more frequently. Ideal for those who missed JLPT or need certification quickly.
- ◈ Levels: Level 5 to Level 1 (Level 5 is the beginner level).
- ◈ Frequency: 6 times a year (Even months - Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec).
- ◈ Exam Method: OMR (Pen and Paper).
- ✔ Suitable for: Students wishing to study in Japan via Language Schools on a Student visa who require rapid results.
3. JFT-Basic
Specifically designed for candidates seeking job opportunities under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa.
- ◈ Levels: A2 Level (CEFR A2) only (Equivalent to JLPT N4).
- ◈ Frequency: Several times a year.
- ◈ Exam Method: CBT (Computer Based Testing).
- ✔ Suitable for: Workers preparing for SSW employment in Japan (Not valid for student academic paths).
4. JLCT (Japanese Language Capability Test)
A newer international exam evaluating practical everyday communication and workplace Japanese language abilities.
- ◈ Levels: JCT5 to JCT1.
- ✔ Evaluates daily life & workspace language usage. Highly beneficial for Japanese employment and travel opportunities.
